Now that you understand the relation between notes i.e. half steps, whole steps and you understand what a major scale is
W W H W W W H
You can easily see how to make
Basic chords are called triads meaning three notes… a quick explanation would be taking the C major scale (which has no sharps or flats). so it's:
C D E F G A B C
If we take the first third and fifth note of that scale we have a C major chord = C E G
We will study why later but for you to have a quick grasp of useful theory we will skip those details for now.
We have seven chords because we have seven notes to make a triad from and this scale produces:
CEG
DFA
EGB
FAC
GBD
ACE
BDF
Instead of the details you should memorize the seven chords of the major scale.
Major
Minor

Diminished
So in the key of C we have:
C major
D minor
E minor
F major
G major
A minor
B diminished
This applies to all major scales
